LEcole des Petits and LEcole de Batterseas libraries house around 4000 fiction and non-fiction books in English and French.
In 2001, LEcole des Petits participated with other European schools in a project called « BCD 2000 » whose aim was to develop Library and Resources Document Centres in Primary schools.
This was a European Education initiative and LEcole des Petits became the UK representative.
The objective of this project was to create a bilingual Library and Document Centre at LEcole des Petits, and also to publish two works for the benefit of other schools and parents.
These publications were Learning to read in 2001, a bi-lingual booklet with suggestions as to how guide your child towards reading and« Parents, Reading and School Library Resources Centres »*, in 2002, which offers advice in English on how to help your child appreciate books and discover literacy.
Today, we continue to promote the culture of French and English literature through regular purchases of new books and through meetings with authors and illustrators.
